Corneal Reshaping Therapy (Orthokeratology)

Corneal Reshaping Therapy (CRT) is an FDA approved revolutionary non-surgical procedure that eliminates the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses. It improves vision by gently reshaping your eye WHILE YOU SLEEP using specially designed therapeutic contact lenses. You just put the specially fitted lenses in at bedtime, and when you awake, you will have clear, sharp, natural vision for your waking hours.
This safe and effective treatment can correct nearsightedness , farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia (blurred near vision). It is a great alternative to LASIK for those who are not ready for surgery.

Orthokeratology is also a form of Myopia Control in adolescents. Myopia is a fast growing disease that not only requires glasses and gets worse over time; it can affect your child’s eye health in adulthood and cause diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, retinal detachment, and more.

Keep in mind, with Pediatrics, treatments are about prevention. Silent issues can lead to eye issues and permanent problems if not treated early. Schedule your child’s first eye exam online if they are 6 months or older to determine if they have any eye issues that need attention, or if Myopia Control is right for them.  Click on the links to learn more, or you can also call/text us at 713-777-2020 for more information on how Dr. Faheem treats Myopia in children.

LASIK

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is a surgical procedure that uses a laser beam to reshape the cornea. Patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or astigmatic may benefit from this type of procedure.
While millions of patients have seen successful results from LASIK, the procedure is not right for everyone. Your optometrist will need to thoroughly examine your eyes to determine which type of vision correction best fits your needs.

Low Vision Specialty Care

Low vision is a general term that refers to a partial loss of vision that cannot be adequately corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, medications or surgery. Common causes of low vision include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal degenerative diseases, glaucoma and optic nerve atrophy.
Low vision care typically includes an evaluation of the patient’s visual abilities, prescription of low vision devices and training in their use. The goal is to maximize the use of the patient’s available vision for reading, writing, hobbies and work-related tasks such as working at a computer.
