Orthokeratology (Ortho-k) / Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)
Orthokeratology is the only FDA approved therapy for gently reshaping the cornea while the patient sleeps to provide clear vision throughout the day without contacts or glasses. Orthokeratology is the first choice for controlling myopia in children utilizing specially designed gas permeable overnight lenses. Orthokeratology is also known as Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT).
Studies show that Orthokeratology reduces the progression rate of myopia (nearsightedness) in children. Parents often choose orthokeratology treatment to decrease the progression of nearsightedness while eliminating the need to glasses or contacts. Ortho-k is advantageous to atheletes and patients who are around allergens and irritants. It is a great alternative for patients who want clear vision without surgery.
Scleral Contact Lenses
Scleral lenses are larger customized lenses that improve vision for patients suffering from corneal trauma and/or disease. Scleral lenses are beneficial for patients with eye disorders, Lasik, RK, and or surgical complications. Lenses are a comfortable option to enhance vision and bypass corneal irregularities. Patients who have been unsuccessful with glasses or soft contact lenses are often great candidates for scleral lenses.
If you suffer from corneal disease, injury, or dry eyes, schedule your consultation with Dr. Inayatali.
